The Allard Pierson Museum (named after the first professor of Classical Archaeology at the University of Amsterdam), has been around since 1934 as part of the University of Amsterdam and is seated in the former main building of the Nederlandsche Bank. Since  2019 the museum and the UvA special collections continued together.
The museum, majestically located on the Rokin, possesses unique collections of Egyptian, Mesopotanian,Greek, Etruscan and Roman antiquities. Art and daily utensils show the meaning of the ancient civilizations for the current time in an intriguing and modern way.
